Typically speaking before any session, I have a talk with my client about what they can expect me to ask them to do during their session. It's VERY important to me that my client is well informed so that she doesn't feel caught off guard in any way. Nothing seems nearly as scary when you know what to expect! With all that said, here are the official Phoenix Boudoir Boudie Basics!
1) Physical Limitations - If you have any physical limitations of any kind that would hinder you in posing you DEFINETELY need to let us know! We will work around bad knees, bad backs and everything in between as long as we are informed! After almost 10 years as a boudoir photographer, I am well equipped to provide poses for each client based on their personal limitations.
2) Toes - If those puppies are going to be in the photo, I will ask you to point your toes. Why? It makes all those leg muscles pop and gives you incredible form! It takes an image from beautiful to drop dead gorgeous in one quick move. Also, there is no such thing as too dramatic. Aim for ballerina style toe points, friend!
3) Arch That Back - This is one girls can sometimes struggle with a bit. It's actually much easier than you might think! Keep your chest up, shoulders back and roll back at the hips. Your chest should stay fairly still! Don't worry! I will give you a pop quiz just before we start and make sure that arch is on point! No pressure!
4) Hands -OMG these suckers cause so much anxiety for my girls! One of the first things they get nervous about it what in the world to do with their hands once they get the rest of their body where it's supposed to be. Don't worry! I am a BIG FAN of keeping your hands busy at all times! I will have them in your hair, tugging at your outfit, holding sheets etc. so you never have to wonder where they go!
5) The Dreaded RBF - You're not the only one afraid of this one, friend. Many girls tell me they have 'the worst' RBF but let me tell you a secret. That's not true at all because I personally have the worst RBF around. If you catch a glimpse at me when I am focused on something you would swear I've done time LOL Don't worry! There is one simple trick to soften that jawline and that is to JUST BREATHE! Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth and part your lips just a bit! Just be careful not to blow out when you exhale!
That's it! There are all the Phoenix Boudie Basics! Now remember, you will forget most all of this the minute we start shooting. However, reading this now will help you remember when you get those little reminders and instructions from me throughout your session! The main thing to remember is, you don't need to worry! It's on me to show the best version of you on camera. I've got you, friend.
