What Every Girl Needs To Know 48 Hours Before Your Shoot

Updated: Mar 10

In 9 years of boudoir, I can't tell you how many times I have received the panicked "how do I need to prepare" phone call from an upcoming client. Through the years I have learned some prep tricks that will help your day go as smoothly as possible! Here are my top 10 recommendations 48 hours before your shoot.

1) Come Sober - I know, I know. You're nervous. You're freaking out, your insides are all jumpy and it is SO tempting to take just a LITTLE sip to calm those nerves but don't do it! Drunk eyes will ruin even the most beautiful photos!

2) Get Plenty of Rest!!! - Let's talk a little bit more about those eyes. While photoshop can work magic nothing beats just natural beauty and the more we care for our bodies and give them what they need, the more that beauty shines through. Get plenty of rest to avoid those dark circles we all get from sleep deprivation!

3) Drink LOTS of Water - Your skin will look it's very best on camera if it is well hydrated. So amp up that water intake 48 hours prior to your session and lotion before you arrive!

4) No new beauty treatments prior! - Trust me friend... I have seen things go terribly wrong with facial peels etc. that have caused canceled shoots! You NEVER know how your skin or hair will react to new chemicals being introduced and you don't want to have something go wrong and have to cancel!

5) GET YOUR BROWS DONE! - This one is so important that I wrote an entire blog post about it! Wax or thread a few days before your session. When it's time for those beautiful face shots you will thank me!

6) Wear loose clothing to your shoot - Sounds weird I know but you know what tight clothing causes? Marks on your skin that sometimes take a while to go away depending on HOW tight that clothing is! Wear loose clothing to avoid that mess altogether.

7) Give yourself plenty of time to get here so you aren't stressed. If you are rushed getting to your shoot you will be stressed and not at your most relaxed and best state DURING your shoot. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive maybe even a few minutes early to avoid creating unnecessary stress.

8) Wear CLEAR deodorant - Question... What will ruin that sexy outfit you bought just for your session faster than anything? Deodorant marks! This can easily be avoided by wearing clear deodorant!

9) Think through your personal grooming before coming - Remember to shave those pesky hairs in ALL the places. Lingerie can be pretty revealing!  Take off old chipped nail polish and make sure nails are clean and well groomed. Be sure you have tried on your outfits and that they fit well and they are clean!

10) Pack the night before - Trust me friends... being prepared ahead of time will have you much more calm and ready to relax, have fun and make beautiful photos! The more prepared you can be the better to avoid feeling rushed or unnecessary pressure!
